Jane By Design Season 1 Episode #1 - 10

JANE BY DESIGN

SEASON 1
EPISODE #1 Pilot – Jane Quimby and her brother, Ben are going through a financial rough patch. When she sees an ad for a paid internship at a fashion house, she decides to apply and enroll in her school’s work program. But in a paperwork shuffle, the HR rep mistakes Jane for an older, more qualified Jane… and our Jane suddenly finds herself with a part-time job as the executive assistant to a very demanding Gray Chandler Murray!
Her best friend Billy agrees to help her forge some documents that will allow Jane to work as an adult. This new income will help with her family debt. As compensation, Billy demands that Jane come with him to a house party where he meets up with his secret girlfriend, Lulu, Jane’s high-school nemesis.
Back at Donovan Decker, the hip fashion house Jane is working at, part of Jane’s demanding new schedule is to spy on Gray’s ambitious underling, India, who is out for Gray’s job. Jane is able to thwart India’s plan to discredit Gray by showing a taste of her department’s new merchandise in an important meeting. Jane manages to save the day – and her new job.

Episode #2: The Runway – Jane’s two worlds collide when the school dance is scheduled for the same night as a big event to introduce Donovan’s new line. And to further complicate things, Jane is surprised when Gray trusts her with a big assignment for the party. Despite India’s attempt to sabotage Jane, the young designer works diligently to create something that will impress Gray.
Meanwhile, Nick catches Billy and Lulu kissing. To Billy’s surprise, Nick says he’ll stay quiet about his discovery – but he would like Billy’s help in getting Jane to go to the winter formal with him. Needless to say, Jane is shocked when she finds out Nick wants to go with her. And it means she now has no choice but to attend both the dance AND the preview party.
But with the aid of Billy (and some crafty wardrobe changes!), Jane shuttles from dance to the work party, and back again, with ease – until she accidentally lands back at the Donovan preview party wearing the wrong dress… just as Gray makes a surprise arrival of her own. When a wardrobe malfunction happens backstage, it causes the collection being featured on the runway to be one look short. But Jeremy eyes the dress Jane is wearing (one that she created herself!) and decides to feature it at the last minute. Jane is terrified of what Gray will think, but her boss doesn’t fire her. Instead, Gray tells her she just might be out for the fashion industry after all!
Elsewhere, Jeremy asks Jane out on a proper date and is baffled when she turns him down. Billy ends things with Lulu. And Ben gets a job interview at Jane’s school.

Episode #3: The Birkin – The demands of being number one at school and at work take a toll on Jane. Impressed with Jane’s performance on the job thus far, Gray gifts her with a stunning and unique Birkin, one of the most expensive purses in the world. Jane thinks she finally has this job under control – until Gray gives her the list. This list includes numerous things Jane is in charge of doing, including running a private trunk show at Gray’s house – and breaking up with Gray’s boyfriend! As if that isn’t stressful enough for Jane, India plans to sabotage the trunk show.
India invites a ton of people to the private trunk show and it quickly turns into an out-of-control party. Jane calls Billy who thankfully comes to her rescue. They manage to get everyone out and place cleaned up before Gray gets home. But when Gray learns Jane wasn’t completely successful in breaking things off with her boyfriend, she takes the Birkin back from Jane.
Meanwhile, Jane must deal with cunning rivals both at the workplace AND at school; Lulu is tied with her for first in class rankings, and a big test coming up could change everything. Plus, Lulu and Billy decide to get back together. Now Billy has to tell Jane!

Episode #4: The Finger Bowl – Billy and Lulu face peer pressure when they make their relationship public. Billy and Lulu’s secret relationship goes public, much to Jane’s shock and dismay. She feels completely betrayed by Billy and is furious he kept this from her for so long. Billy worries that he has lost his best friend.
Meanwhile, Donovan Decker prepare for a very important visitor: Miyoko Sato, the hard-to-please editor of a Japanese fashion magazine. Gray makes it clear to Jane how important it is to make sure Miyoko is happy because Donovan Decker has never been featured in Modern Empress before. Unfortunately, Miyoko isn’t impressed with the designs she sees.
After a few words with Jane, Miyoko agrees to give Donovan Decker one more chance. So Jeremy has Jane to dinner with Miyoko. Jane ends up working her magic, but just as the business dinner is starting to go smoothly, she runs into Nick. Jane is surprised to see Nick on a date, but manages to get out of the situation before it’s revealed she knows Nick through school. And the business dinner is completely successful; Miyoko agrees to feature a Donovan Decker design on the cover of Modern Empress!
Back at home, Ben has a heart-to-heart with Billy and gives him some advice concerning Jane. When Jane returns home from dinner, Billy is there waiting on her and the two friends make up.

Episode #5: The Lookbook – Jane turns to Billy when she can’t find the lookbook that Gray trusted in her hands. Jane is given her biggest, exciting – and most daunting – task yet: hand-delivering the Donovan spring line ‘lookbook’ directly to Gray… in Paris! But after a torrential day of running errands in the city, she loses it. And to make matters worse, there is a rumor going around Donovan Decker that Gray is about to be fired.
Meanwhile, Billy’s brother is up to no good and wants Billy’s help. Lulu agrees to lie to Ben and tell him Jane is sleeping over – thanks to Billy’s encouragement. And Nick and Jane clear things up regarding their run in at he diner during the last episode.
Back at Donovan Decker, Jane enlists the help of Billy to help her retrace her steps and recover the lookbook. They look everywhere, but they can’t seem to find it! Just as Jane is about to give up, she returns to Donovan Decker and sees India with it. Jane had left it in a can and the driver returned it just in time to make her flight to Paris – where she discovers Gray is not getting fired. In fact, Gray is the new Creative Director of Donovan Decker. Jane is thrilled – and even more excited when she has time to go sightseeing around Paris before she has to return home.

Episode #6: The Image Issue – India and Jeremy are on the hunt for answers at Jane’s school. After India gives an underwhelming presentation to the company about “the-next-hot-thing” with teenagers, Jane is sent by Gray on a new assignment. She is in charge of creating a new Trend Report – which means Jane needs to go to her “former” high school to seek out what teenagers really think of fashion. Thanks to Ben’s help, Jane creates a superb video of her fellow high school students discussing their fashion inspirations. But when India spots Billy in the presentation, she correctly suspects that she’s seen him before (at the trunk show party) – and sets out on a mission to Jane’s high school to uncover the truth.
Meanwhile, Lulu’s father lectures Billy on his appearance, so Billy decides he needs a makeover. He shocks everyone when he shows up at school sans his signature hair gel and with a whole new preppy look. Jane is not happy at all with the change, but Billy points out that he always supports her, so she should return the favor.
Later, Jane and Billy freak out when they spot India and Jeremy roaming the halls of Whitemarsh High. Billy ultimately runs into India, but because of his new look, he’s able to convince her he’s not the guy she saw at the trunk show. Just when Jane thinks she’s in the clear, India spots her giving a presentation. She lies and says she was just thanking the students – and India believes her and leaves.
Also, Ben and Rita go on a date. Plus, Nick kisses Jane!

Episode #7: The Teen Model – Jane’s job becomes a nightmare when she is assigned to keep tabs on an uncontrollable young teen model. A naïve Jane volunteers to look after a “wholesome” teen model when she arrives in town to shoot the company’s new ad campaign – and she turns out to be a total nightmare. Piper is disruptive, destructive, and ready to party. Plus, she uncovers Jane’s secret about being in high school, and uses it to her advantage.
Meanwhile, Ben is upset when Jane returns home late again. He decides to show some tough brotherly love and ground her. This doesn’t make Jane happy at all – especially since Nick is having a party and now she won’t be able to go. Jane and Nick are getting a lot closer too, so it really bums her out. But when Piper decides she wants to go to this high school party (and tells Jane she’ll expose her double life if she doesn’t go), Jane has no choice but to break Ben’s rules and go as well.
Lulu also convinces Billy to go to the party, but when Billy’s brother arrives too, there is an altercation that leaves Billy walking out the door – and Lulu not following him. Things go from bad to worse at the party when Ben shows up and busts Jane.
Thankfully, despite all of the drama at the party, Jane manages to get Piper to the all-important Donovan Decker shoot. Piper and Jane end up bonding and after a successful photo shoot, Piper advises Jane not to grow up too fast.

Episode #8: The Wedding Gown – The Donovan Decker crew struggles to create the perfect wedding dress for a demanding socialite bride. When “American Royalty” Charlotte Whitmore discards a Donovan Decker wedding gown, Gray puts Jane, Jeremy, India and Carter on 24-hour lockdown to create the perfect dress before Charlotte commits to another designer. Jane is especially bummed because she has to cancel on a “night out” with Nick and Billy, forcing the two unlikely friends to band together when they run into Whitemarsh’s rival baseball team.
In the end, Jane sketches a stunning gown, which Jeremy loves. Unfortunately, India tries to take the credit herself! But when Jane explains her inspiration to Jeremy, he believes the design truly is hers. The group frantically rushes to get the gown, and manage to pull it off at the last minute. And it’s a success! Charlotte loves the design, which saves the day for Donovan Decker.

Episode #9: The Getaway – India requests Jane’s presence on a business trip, spoiling her chance for a weekend with Nick. There is a big camping trip coming up at school and Jane is super excited to go – especially since it means more time with Nick. Unfortunately, India has other plans. After her breakup with Jeremy, India is on full alert. And when she thinks he may be spending time with Jane, she decides to sabotage Jane’s upcoming weekend and asks Gray to send Jane to Beverly Hills on a business trip with her instead. Gray thinks it’s a good opportunity for Jane to spy on India, so she agrees. Jane, of course, is crushed to miss her big weekend with Nick.
On the camping trip, Ben and Rita grow closer. And frustrated with Jane Billy, Nick and Lulu kiss – not knowing Billy’s watching! Billy leaves and joins Tommy in a heist where they’re both arrested. And when Ben comes home early from camping he drops by Jane’s work… and discovers the truth about her job!
In Beverly Hills, Jane spies on India, but she’s quickly busted. India asks her to join her and her guests. Turns out, she’s having a meeting with Gray’s soon-to-be-ex. Later, Jane and India end up bonding – after India discovers Jane had planned on spending the weekend with Nick, not Jeremy.
But things take a bad turn for Jane once she returns home and realizes her brother now knows the truth.

Episode #10: The End of the Line – Ben learns Jane’s secret as Fashion Week arrives; Billy pays the price for his part in Tommy’s plan. With the knowledge of Jane’s secret out, Ben pulls the plug on her job at Donovan Decker, which means no Fashion Week. Jane thinks her day can’t get any worse – but she’s wrong. She and Ben find out Billy’s been arrested and rush to bail him out.
After they post his bail, Billy stays at Jane’s house. He reluctantly reveals that he saw Lulu and Nick kissing on the camping trip. Jane is heartbroken and confronts Nick later at school. Afterwards, she laments to Billy about everything going on in her life right now. Billy agrees to cover for her so she can evade Ben and go to Donovan Decker.
So when Ben attends Billy’s court hearing, Jane races to work. And she’s just in time to help salvage their collection, which has once again been ripped off by Gray’s ex. When Jane learns this, she starts to put the pieces together. She remembers India’s meeting in Beverly Hills and the fact that she had the lookbook after she claimed a taxi driver had dropped it off. She believes India is the mole and confronts her about the leaking designs. Gray overhears their conversation and fires India.
Thanks to Jane (and a little inspiration from Billy), the Donovan Decker gang revamp the line in time for an extremely successful fashion show. Ben shows up just in time to see the collection, and the important role Jane played in it. He agrees to let her keep working (and leading a double life)… as long as there are no more lies between them.
Meanwhile, at Billy’s court date, it turns out that Lulu’s dad is the judge. He needs time to think about the case before his final decision is made, but warns Billy to stay out of trouble. Later, after a visit from his brother, Billy starts to believe his feelings for Jane might be more than “just friends” and races to Fashion Week to tell her the truth.

He arrives just as Jeremy (who we learn is the actual model!!) tells Jane he needs to talk to her. Jane is stuck in the middle of these two guys-literally!
